All children should have received their targets to bring home by now. Please take time to have a look at them with your child and discuss what they feel is required in order to meet them this term.

In maths we are focusing on  number bonds and quick and rapid recall of calculations which for some, will include decimals. Please practice this at home with your child remember mental maths can be practiced anywhere—in the car, walking to school in the supermarket etc.

In science we are looking at  fair testing and the factors that effect  the investigation. They need to be clear with

what they plan to do and how they evaluate their experiments.

The reading and writing targets were chosen to emphasise the importance of editing and inferring the meaning in texts.

Please ask your child about some of the work we are doing on these as the term progresses.

Happy new year! Welcome back to school after the Christmas festivities. We are now nearly half way through the school year already and time seems to be flying by once again.

PE

We are still having children who are consistently missing PE by not bringing their PE kit to school. PE days are Thursdays and Fridays and they should bring indoor and outdoor kit each week.

May I remind you that PE kit consists of a white t-shirt (the school shirt they have been wearing or a football shirt are not permissible) and dark shorts for inside and a white shirt and jogging bottoms for outside. They need a pair of trainers (not the shoes they have come to school in) and plimsolls are optional for inside worwork, as they often prefer to take part with bare feet.

Looking ahead to terms 5 and 6

May I remind parents of year 6 SATS week this year is the week beginning May 10th. It is vitally important they are in school this week and no holiday absences will be authorised for this week. The secondary schools do request these results and so it very important your child shows their true ability in this week.

Also thank-you to  everyone who has returned their deposit for this years residential. If you would like to go but haven’t paid your deposit there are the last one or two spaces available please see Mrs Newton.

And finally, if you have any queries regarding anything on this newsletter or anything else regarding your child’s progress please do not hesitate to get in touch with any of the team 3 teachers.
